Ash Thomas
Ash had nearly 40 years of operational Public Service experience before retiring from the Prison Service in October 2022, concluding as Deputy Governor HMP Cardiff. A Highly experienced senior leader serving 28 years in the HM Prison Service and was operating at senior management level for 12 years.
Ash was accountable for the operational management and delivery of the prison; leadership of prison the Senior Management Team; leading operational change and strategic direction. Commission disciplinary investigations and being the hearing authority for disciplinary hearings. Managing industrial relations, responsible for counter-corruption processes and outcomes and the professional standards of staff.
He has served in many prisons in England and Wales governing as Head of Operations, Head of Reducing Reoffending and as Deputy Governor of HMP Usk, Prescoed and HMP Cardiff. He Became Regional PE Manager for all prisons in Wales & Southern England Prisons before returning to the frontline operating at Silver Command Wales and then returning to HMP Cardiff for his 2nd period as Deputy Governor until he retired from the Service in October 2022.
Ash has always had a passion and drive for improving management, leadership, coaching and development and helping people be the best they can. He has won leadership awards in the military and was awarded a national Butler Trust Commendation for outstanding contribution, innovation and development of reducing re-offending programmes with prisons.
Ash has a sporting and rugby playing/coaching background and is a RFU Level 3 coach. He has been Head Coach of several English clubs and worked as an elite player development coach.

Simon Evans
Simon served as a police officer within South Wales Police for 30 years, commencing in July 1989 and retiring in July 2019.
Simon, Initially worked within uniform duties understanding the risks, harms and support within local communities of Swansea City, supporting needs and demands.
For the last 26 years of his career he has worked as a detective gaining huge experience in all areas of investigation including.., sexual offences, drug enforcement , surveillance, kidnap and extortion, major crime investigations, including numerous homicides (high profile cases), paedophile ring investigations, and managing intelligence teams.
Simon is highly skilled within the covert field, collection of intelligence and evidence. He is trained as an Advanced TIER 5 interview co-ordinator within serious organised criminality.

Simon Davies
Simon Retired from South Wales Police in 2017 after serving for 30 years.
His last role was as Operational Superintendent for Bridgend & Vale.
He was previously Head of Intelligence and Serious and Organised Crime and was a SIO for serious crime investigations including murders across South Wales.
Simon has worked in various roles and has significant experience in Public Protection and Safeguarding.
Simon is married and lives in Swansea with his wife and 3 children.
He plays an active role in his local rugby club where he coaches, referees and oversees the running of the clubs junior section.

Suzanne Hughes
Suzanne is married with 2 grown up children. She joined South Wales Police in 1984 as a cadet at the age of 17 and went on to join the regular force the following year.
Following her training, Suzanne was posted to the Swansea area of the force where she carried out uniform 'beat and panda' duties for the first 5 years of her service before joining the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) where she remained for 9 years.
In 1999, Suzanne joined the National Crime Squad, dealing with National and International serious and organised crime.
Suzanne returned to South Wales Police in 2005 as a Detective Sergeant and worked in a Public Protection Unit (PPU) which is dedicated to carrying out investigations and ensuring the safety of vulnerable victims, gaining expertise in Child abuse, Vulnerable adult abuse, Domestic Violence and safeguarding.
In 2007, Suzanne was promoted to Detective Inspector and posted to the Major Crime Investigation Team whose remit included the investigation of Homicides, corporate manslaughter and other serious incidents.
In 2013, Suzanne was promoted to Detective Chief Inspector and posted to Barry and the Vale before being promoted to Temporary Detective Superintendent back into the Force Professional Standards Department where, as Deputy Head of the Department, she had responsibility for investigations into Police Corruption, Gross Misconduct and Misconduct.
Suzanne retired from South Wales Police in November 2016. Still, she some months later took up a National Project Manager post looking at the Recruitment, Retention and Well-being of Detectives in all forces in England and Wales.
In 2022, Suzanne fully retired and now enjoys her family, travelling and walking with her dogs.
